There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau casino, contains 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that contains numerous conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
