There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, highlights 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that contains a number of luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
