There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino wagering is not allowed. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many borders.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous conveniences on top of the casino, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
